LOWER LEVEL LAYOUT

The model train track on the lower level consists of a shunting section with 2 locomotive sheds, sanding, charring and de-silting. (There is no connection to the model train track above it).

We bought the part on the right from Marc from Aalst. We are going to have to make small changes so it can be integrated into our layout.
On this part the turnouts have a radius of 23OOmm.

However, the 2 curves will have a radius of about 1700mm.

There is also a section, at the other locomotive shed, where there is a turnout with only 1020mm radius of the branch track. To get to the shoring and sanding , the locomotives do run over turnouts with large radius of curvature.
After the curve, there will be a branch track to the “Helvetia” diorama. The track that continues behind it splits into a small siding with 3 tracks. Here we will later recreate an underground station.

The other curve will be at the bottom of our Italian village.
